This introductory course looks at the following areas: Collapse of Mughuls and their responses inc Tipu Sultan Islamic Revival Movements - Deobandis, Barelwis, Ahle Hadith, Modernists and others; Islam & Muslims under British Rule inc Mutiny Uprising of 1857-58, Saiyid Ahmad Khan and the Aligarh Movement Independence movements inc. All-India Muslim League, Khilafat Movement Jamiat ul-Ulama-I Hind, Iqbal, Congress Muslims and others. Partition of India and creation of Pakistan and Bangladesh Islam in Modern day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh What the future holds and the lessons that may be learned.
